Last minute paperwork

Ruth Ann and Steve completing paperwork with Greg Locher at LEI. If you're looking for freight forwarder in Vancouver to fly your bike to Seoul, you can't beat LEI. Also very pleased with Rusty Santos and the crew at Pacific MotoSports. They serviced the bikes, put on new tires and preped them for shipping. The entire process went as scheduled and was painless, even the cost for flying the bikes to ICN.

Now Wendy Choi is already working with Korean Customs at Incheon (the airport for Seoul) so we can get our bikes on the 19th.

The U. S. Contingent

Ruth Ann & Steve Reynen, Sara & Doug Laird, having coffee at Tim Horton's at YVR (cargo side) while LEI finishes the paperwork. (Dave Rankine, the other Yankee, is already in Seoul.)

Locher-Evers, Inc.

Finishing up the paperwork with Greg Locher at LEI. The bikes WILL fly on KA#72 on the 17th. The cherries are soft and the salmon is running slow so KA has advised there will be space for the three bikes on #72.

S. Korea Map

Finally got the open-source map loaded on the Garmin GPSmap 640. Won't route but will be helpful in keeping us off the expressways (freeways). Motorcycles not allowed on expressways in Korea.

Our 35th Anniversary

We celebrated by having High Tea at the Fairmont in downtown Vancouver. This is a city that you should visit if you haven't. Everywhere you look a new skyscraper is going up. Reminds me of Tokyo in the 90s.

Stanley Park

Killing time around Vancouver waiting for our flight on 17AUG.  Sara and I will fly from YVR to SEA.  I'll then fly to ICN (Seoul, S. Korea) and Sara will fly home.
Spent Sunday at Stanley Park, probably the best city park in the world.

It Has Begun

RuthAnn and I pointed our BMWs west on July 30th and 2000 miles later arrived in Richmond, British Columbia, on August 5th. This was the beginning of a motorcycle journey that has been two years in the planning. After passing through the Twin Cities we abandoned the interstate road system and made our way through western Minnesota, the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho, and Washington to Canada on secondary roads. Along the way we celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary, stopped in Great Falls to see Piano Pat and the mermaids at the Sip and Dip Lounge, visited motorcycle buddy Dan Saari in Montana, and muddied the bikes with Montana mud before arriving at Pacific Motosports in Richmond. Click on "Steve's SPOT" in the upper righthand corner of the blog to see our route from De Pere to Vancouver (the green dots indicate an overnight stop).
Pacific serviced the bikes, mounted new tires, and corrected a fuel pressure sensor problem on my bike that threatened our forward progress. They then proceeded to tie down and shrink wrap the bikes for shipment to Korea next week.
