Coulaures, France - Rest Day

15 OCT - Rode to town with Gilles and got tires for the bike at the BMW shop. Have 10,000 miles on them (very good for a moto) and the mechanic said I could get another 1,500) but don't want to waste time in Manchester or Toronto finding a shop that has tires, etc. Plus Gilles is friends with the owner so they knocked 30% off the price. Couldn't resist getting it done. Coming back to the farm Gilles took me on some great back country roads, about 1 1/2 lanes wide with fun twisties.

Picked up the gals and went to a small cafe for lunch. Very good. Then toured the Chateau Hautefort and the grounds, dates back to the 16th century.

Fun getting to meet Josephine and catching up on news with Gilles, a true world traveler - 160 countries, in ten years, on his Beemer.

Tomorrow we'll be back on the road. Have to catch the ferry from Charborg to Portsmouth at 18:00 on Friday. It'll be a 3:45 minuet crossing. Hope we have calm seas but this time of the year one never knows.
