Handewitt, Germany to Uglit, Denmark

9 OCT - Left Handewitt, Germany at 08:30. It had rained overnight but not while loading the bike or starting the days ride. About 45 minutes later it did start to rain and not just rain but pour. It lasted about half an hour but was not fun.

Came out off it with two wheels still on the pavement and happy to again see blue sky. We're far enough north and close enough to the sea that the wind is very strong. Somewhat like Patagonia but here we're on pavement. Stopped at McDonalds for lunch.

A short time later to fuel the bike. $6.37 a gallon for medium grade, 95 octane. They won't turn on the pump until you remove your helmet. The manager was very nice and when we determined that they had nothing for sale that would remove the Siberian tar from the bike he gave me some 'special' soap from the car wash that he said would work. Will try it tomorrow.

We got to Uglit and thanks to the GPS found Else Marie's country home. A 216 mile day.
