Prague to Berlin

6 OCT - Left this morning at 08:30. Traffic out of Prague wasn't too bad as we were leaving while those coming in to town were backed up about four miles.

When ever we stop for whatever we park the bike so that one of us can keep an eye on it. Gas in the Czech was just under $10 per gallon. Here in Germany high test, 98 octane, is $6.34 per gallon.

We're the slowest on the autobahn at 80mph. The bike is chipped at 126mph, as a U.S. import, but at 80mph our mpg drops to 37 while at 64 its about 44.

Arrived at Motorrad Niederlassung Berlin at 14:00.  On the strength of my phone call a week ago, Ulf Bresina the Service Manager, had ordered a new cruise control unit. (Unlike what I experienced at Trails End BMW in Fairbanks in June of 2011.) BMW has ordered the 'controls' on both the left (cruise control and headlights) and the right (starter) be replaced under warranty. Ulf ordered all the parts. The bike should be ready by 11:00 on Tuesday. Now, that's we expect from BMW.

We were provided subway tickets by the dealer and had no problem getting to our hotel on the metro.

The Hotel Benn, in Spandau, is near the BMW Motorrad Factory. We'll sightsee on Tuesday and then take the factory tour at 17:00.

Guess what? There is a bakery a block from our hotel.
