A Rainy Rest Day in Novosibirsk

We had a welcome rest day in Novisibirsk, and in spite of the light mizzle/drizzle, went for walk from our hotel to Lenin Square. Lenin and five other statues preside over the square which is a busy multi-lane traffic nightmare--the best way to cross it is by using the underground passage way. Lenin, three of his comrades-in-arms, and two of the young proletariat face the square with their backs to a small, but attractive park, flower gardens, and the Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Lunch was at KFC where the young woman at the counter spoke excellent English--another facet of the new Russia.
