Kurgan to Chelyabinsk

15SEP - A home cooked meal last night at 'the Family Motel' and this morning a fantastic breakfast spread. The porage was to write home about.

Last night was our first frost and there was ice on the bike seat this morning at 07:30 when we were loading the bikes before our 08:00 breakfast seating. We ordered our breakfast items the night before and asked for an 08:00 seating. Right at 08:00 out came the breakfast. At each place setting she had our room numbers. And she got everything right and the food was hot. What service.

We departed at 09:30 and rode the 170 miles to Chelyabinsk with a stop for lunch at the 80 mile mark. There was a very nice cafe with a wide selection of items. As we ride West everyday the restaurants become more like what you'd expect back home, including indoor plumbing and no more 'squaters'. A petfect day for the 'chain gang' to do their chain thing.

This is a typical Russian hotel. No elevators and security doors on each floor, actually for both directions. Hopefully in case of fire they will all automatically unlock.

We arrived here at 14:00 and once again the GPS didn't fail us, took us right to our hotel. Not always an easy task with some of these Russian tangle town streets.

And the AcuWeather forecast was correct today. Started out at 32 and was 56 by the time we reached Chelyabinsk. A perfect blue sky Fall day.
