Rest Day @ Chita

3SEP - We arrived Chita yesterday. Since leaving Vladivostok we've been on the Trans-Siberian Highway six days and have covered 1,810 miles. Today is our scheduled rest-day, so laundry is getting done and bikes checked.

So far the overnight temperature has been dropping and is nearly reaching freezing. The trees are changing, Fall is in the air. Looks like more blue sky days ahead.

Tomorrow we ride to Ulan-Ude, 367 miles, and should get our first twisties. Friday we'll reach Lake Biakal (the largest lake in the world) and take another rest-day at Irkutsk to do some sightseeing.

After reading all the horror stories about how terrible the Trans-Siberian Highesy is we're grateful that President Putin has made good on his promise to 'complete paving' it. Saw on the news Tuesday night that he appeared somewhere  along the Eastern part of the highway on Monday to celebrate the work in finishing the project.
